| Canadian study: Warmer nights cause more heart deaths in men Scientists at the Canadian University of Toronto have concluded that summer nights are warmer than usual The results indicated that people who sleep with light in the room or home, their nervous system remains awake.
After the researchers conducted their studies on healthy individuals who slept in a room with light, they found that they had increased heart rates, according to the website "WebMD".
And they found that they suffer from a higher production of insulin responsible for regulating blood sugar, and although it is not alarmingly high, but night after night this may harm a person's health.
It is known that everyone needs exposure to sunlight during the day and darkness at night to maintain the daily biological clock, which is responsible for regulating processes in the body, such as sleep, metabolism and hormone secretion.
The researchers revealed that those who are exposed to light at night often complain about the body’s secretion of the sleep hormone melatonin, which increases the feeling of alertness at the time when sleep and relaxation must be done.
They found that on average, sleeping in the light led to a small increase in the participants' heart rate, as well as decreased heart rate variability, and the body's resistance to insulin the next morning, and if this persists, it could be a precursor to type 2 diabetes.
The researchers said that exposure to light during sleep can increase the risk of diabetes and other cardiovascular diseases, stressing that televisions and phones are left away from the bed.
