A new study suggested that the Corona virus infected the ancestors of modern East Asians 25,000 years ago and continued to infect them thousands of years after that.
And Live Science reported that “the Corona pandemic, which has killed more than 3 million people around the world, is considered one of the modern diseases, but as much as this threat seems new, humans have fought dangerous viruses since the beginning of time, and the Corona virus may be among them.”

With this theory, Ennard and his team analyzed the genes of 2,504 people across 26 different human groups around the world, in a study whose results were published on January 13 on the bioRxiv database, and is under review for publication in a scientific journal.
The study suggests that if the mutation gives the gene an advantage, such as a better ability to fight the virus, the virus will have a better chance of being passed on to the next generation.
The study revealed that people of East Asian descent possess certain genes known to interact with coronaviruses, or in other words they have genetic mutations that are more resistant to the virus.
These results confirm the exposure of people living in modern East Asia thousands of years ago to a virus similar to Corona, which gave their ancestors a greater genetic ability to resist it.
Also, the study revealed that beneficial variants persisted until about 5,000 years ago, indicating that the ancient virus continued to threaten these populations for a long time.
"Viruses exert some of the strongest selective pressures on humans to adapt, and it is assumed that corona viruses have been around for a long time before humans appeared," Joel Werthem, assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, said in an interview with Live Science.
"This study provides a fascinating investigation of how and when this happened," he added.
He continued, "It is very difficult to confirm whether the virus that caused this development is also the Corona virus or not, but it seems like a reasonable working theory."

وقام إينارد وفريقه عبر هذه النظرية بتحليل جينات 2504 أشخاص عبر 26 مجموعة بشرية مختلفة حول العالم، في دراسة تم نشر نتائجها في 13 يناير على قاعدة بيانات bioRxiv، وهي قيد المراجعة للنشر في مجلة علمية.
وتشير الدراسة إلى أنه إذا أعطت الطفرة الجين ميزة مثل القدرة الأفضل على محاربة الفيروس، ستكون لدى الفيروس فرصة أفضل في أن ينتقل إلى الجيل التالي.
وكشفت الدراسة أن الأشخاص المنحدرين من أصل شرق آسيوي، يمتلكون جينات معينة معروفة بالتفاعل مع فيروسات كورونا، أو بعبارة أخرى لديهم طفرات جينية أكثر مقاومة للفيروس.
وتؤكد هذه النتائج تعرض الأشخاص الذين يعيشون في شرق آسيا الحديثة منذ آلاف السنين إلى فيروس مشابه لكورونا، الأمر الذي منح أسلافهم قدرة جينية أكبر على مقاومته.
كذلك، كشفت الدراسة استمرار انتشار المتغيرات المفيدة حتى حوالي 5000 عام، مما يشير إلى أن الفيروس القديم استمر في تهديد هؤلاء السكان لفترة طويلة.
وقال جويل ويرثيم الأستاذ المساعد في قسم الطب بجامعة كاليفورنيا في حديث لـLive Science إن "الفيروسات تمارس نوعا من أقوى الضغوط الانتقائية على البشر للتكيف، ويفترض أن فيروسات كورونا كانت موجودة منذ فترة طويلة قبل ظهور البشر".

وتابع: "من الصعب للغاية تأكيد ما إذا كان الفيروس الذي تسبب في هذا التطور هو أيضا فيروس كورونا أم لا، لكنه يبدو كنظرية عمل معقولة".
