A German neurologist recommends music as a treatment
Music has a positive effect on many diseases as it helps activate the immune system to fight bacterial infection. However, many doctors are still underestimating it, according to a well-known German expert in neurology.
Music speaks to the human brain
A German specialist and expert in the field of neurology confirmed that music has a positive effect on the human body. In an interview with the German news agency (dpa) today, Saturday, August 15, Professor Irvin Joseph Schachmann said that many doctors underestimate the role of music and its effect on the body.
"Music can speak to the human brain in an excellent way, despite the different diseases that can affect this brain," said Schekmann, a neuroscientist who also lectures at the Academy of Arts in Münster, in western Germany.
He pointed out that the Physicians' Association of the "Westphalia Lepe" intends to hold a conference on jazz music, on August 20. This does not mean that treatment is necessarily limited to jazz, Shabakman said, as it is not related to a specific type of music, and there is no specific type of music for a specific disease. He explained that what creates the positive impact of music on the body is these basic qualities that any music carries, such as rhythm and harmony.
Music is a complementary therapy
Music is a cure for the soul and the body as well!
Shabakman believed that it is obvious that fast-paced music has a kinetic effect, while slow-tempo music is suitable for relaxation and overcoming stress.
The German neuroscientist said that music has the ability to raise or lower brain activity, which makes it suitable as a therapeutic supplement with medical drugs for people with chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure. But he stressed at the same time that it is not suitable as a substitute for these drugs.
Shabakman also pointed out that music is not suitable as a cure for all diseases, "for example, it will be difficult to treat with music in cases of fractures, but it is suitable to activate the immune system in the case of bacterial diseases."
